1988 Celica All Trac with ST205 WRC Swap

In the beginning:

All of the original wiring was jacked from dry-rot and hacking from the previous owner/shop. It just made sense to me just to do a swap. :-P

The purchase:

1994 Celica GT-Four WRC. Third Generation 3SGTE. 2500 of this particular engine were built, the bare minimum production requirement for entry into WRC. If you are interested in something similar, the non-WRC is just as fun, and MUCH easier to come by.

In and out with the ol' swaparoo:

Don't try to look under her skirt.

The easy part is complete in 6.5 hours. Bolting in is just the beginning:

Bolted right in as if they were meant for each other! Minimal fab required.

The waiting game.... Wiring is fun, so until we could get caught up around the shop customer wise, she collects some dust. At least she looks really good, even just sitting.

Add 8 months and a few Coronas and Newcastles..........

3 Sets of wheels and numerous 16 hour days later....

Anyway, this is my new baby. She's been a long time in the making, but it was well worth the wait! If she is not the first actual WRC swapped 88 in the US, I am the first girl to have done such.

Mod list:

Modified engine mounts with 90A Hardness urethane filler
Fluidyne radiator from 4G63 T
Frankenstein half-shafts (ST205/ST165)
ST185 Coilover system (some fitment modification)
Synapse Synchronic BOV
MBC @ 15psi
Upgraded Heat Exhchanger for factory A2W IC system.
Lo-tec Pillar Pod with Autometer Water Temp/Boost/Oil Pressure Gauges
Apexi Turbo Timer
17" Scion tC wheels
Battery Relocation
Short Ram Intake (AEM)
Fresh 35% Window Tinting

She's pretty much stock, but I hope to do a little more in the future. Just enjoying driving it for now.

Future plans:

SuperPro Urethane Bushing Kit
4-Wheel Alignment w/ sport tuned coilover system. (Just need them adjusted)

Thank you! Nice AE92 *sniffle* I just sold mine to do a 4A-GTE swap in. I'm going to miss it dearly. Same color and everything..... *tear*

^ Seriously jealous of your paint! Burgundy interior, wow. I have to say thats the first black AT I've seen with that interior. You should come down to NC/TN for the next All Trac Tail of the Dragon meet

Thanks for the compliment on the paint.
Because of the smaller market in Canada, we got only 3 colour choices and interior combinations:

1) Black w/ red interior
2) White w/ blue interior
3) Red w/ black interior

Trust me, I would have taken black/black if I had a choice.

I'd love to come down for a meet but I'm on the West Coast, so that'd be a loooong 3,000 mile drive for me!

Thank you for all the compliments! I really appreciate everyone chiming in. I'm very proud of my new project and sometimes its just nice to hear confirmation from others with nice cars of their own.
I've noticed she's turning a lot of heads lately, people wondering why it makes "strange sounds" or why it doesn't quite look like the rest of the Celicas running around.

I have seen one other All Trac in the area, a white '88 in completely stock condition driven by an older woman. I tried to chase her down the one time I saw it, but unfortunately could not pull the u-turn on the interstate :-P

Nice job on the swap. The car looks much better than I thought an all trac would with tc wheels on it. Post up some vids if you have any.

I'm hoping to buy a firewire card for the computer here soon so that I may get some video. It may be a bit loud or obnoxious as I am currently running open custom downpipe.
