4th Generation Clutch Question

so, i'm wanting to buy a celica. I've found a 87 gts. But the clutch is a cable clutch, compared to hydro clutch. Any major downsides to using the older cable clutch? Just wondering.

Thanks.

Cable clutch systems usually require more effort to push the pedal down; hence manufactures go to a hydraulic system. The cable may also be more prone to break.

the upside of cable clutch is that it's adjustable!
Also you'll have a stronger leg the more you clutch.

Good times

Huh? I've never heard of a gt-s with a cable clutch. This is news to me. You physically checked it and theres no clutch master cylinder?

no i haven't physically checked it.

My friend drove it and said it's running on cable clutch. It's really springy.
It's an 87 celica gts.

I agree something doesnt sound right I'm pretty sure that all celicas have a hydralic clutch... except for maybe the really early ones like the gen1 or 2

Hmmm, that's really odd then. Is there a way for something to be wrong with the hydraulic clutch to make it act like it feels like cable clutch?

Not all clutches feel the same. Even cars of the same year of the same model. For the most part, Toyota uses hydraulic clutches on their cars while sometimes using cable clutches on their trucks. Even my 77 Celica uses a hydraulic clutch. I'm pretty sure that gt-s uses hydraulic clutch. Whats wrong with it? Could be nothing. Could be age.
