'94 celica wont start

Hey guys, my sister owns a 1994 celica 4 cyl.(im not sure of the trim package on the car, all she can tell me is that it is not a GT). It recently decided it didnt want to start anymore. From what she tells me it turns over but does not start. The car is an hour and a half away from where i live, so i have not had a chance to check it out in person, but judging from what she has told me, I am thinking battery/starter, or not enough fuel getting to the motor.
I have basic car knowlegde, but have never worked on a toyota, and would like to do everything in my power to fix it before she pays someone to do so. Does anyone have any ideas as to what could be casuing the problem. I have done a brief search of the past posts on here about it and i havent seen anything that points me to one thing or the other.
So if anyone could point me in the right direction i would be grateful. Thanks for the time. -J

It doesn't sound like either the battery or the starter because it sounds like the engine is cranking, if the engine isn't cranking then yes it would probably be one of those 2 things. There are a few basic problems that you need to look at that it could be. It could be that its not getting spark, fuel, or air(or to much air). Check your air hose for cracks or splits this can cause the engine to run lean, and check the filter it would have to be really clogged up to hinder starting, these are about the least likely for it to be. Check your spark plugs and make sure they are sparking, if they aren't then there can be several reasons. Spark plugs could be bad, bad wires, bad distributer, or even just a bad connection. Make sure all your connections are good on the spark plugs and distributor. The last thing I have for you is to check to make sure that you are getting fuel pressure, if your not then its probably your fuel pump. Without more info I can't really tell you much more.

Thats not entirely true. You can have a bad battery and the engine will still crank. It won't start but it'll crank. Even if you try and jump start a bad battery all the engine will do is crank. It can still seem like its giving plenty of power when the battery is bad.
