The awd celicas in that body style werent offered in the states at all, there were two motors available in the celica one being the 5sfe in the GT model I believe. These motors usually laster pretty long with good care.

If you have anymore questions you can post here. If you own or are looking at buying a 1994 style celica you should check out www.6gc.net as well

I have a 92 GT-S. Pretty sure the 5SFE is standard for a few years. I have 250,000kms and it still goes good. Smells like a new engine when it's warming up.
However, South Island Imports is an autowrecker in my area that only brings in Hondas and Toyotas. They have been doing this for so many years no other autowreckers even bid against them at the insurance auctions. They have seen many different motors come through. Apparently they feel the 5SFE is not the greatest of motors. I believe the 5S is basically a 3S block with a bigger high compression head on it. So I've been told by these guys that the bottom end gets blown out of them easy. Especially if you're going to race them around town endlessly for a long period of time. It's in their experience that the 5SXX (2.2L) motors don't last nearly as long as the 3SXX (2.0L) motors.
I love my 5S engine though. Quick that's for sure. I also had a 3SFE in an 87 GT that I put over 350,000kms on it and it ran great.

The 94-99 Celicas in the U.S. had the 7afe (ST) and the 5sfe (GT) motors. They, like most all Toyotas, last forever. I took mine out with around 190,000 miles on it and it was running beautifully.

No, they are not AWD. The ST205 was the only AWD 6GC and it was not available in the U.S. It used the 3rd Gen 3SGTE motor.
