Unhappy 87 Celica GT with 87 GTS engine... what to do?

I bought an 87 Celica GTS a while back that needed an engine rebuild. As the engine was being rebuilt (3SGE), someone stole the car body, that included the ECU and wiring harness in the hatch! In my ignorance to find a car to put the engine in, I purchased an 87 GT (3SFE), not knowing about the differences. Long story short, I have a car that needs an engine, and an engine that needs a car, but they don't match. I hear the engine swap would be difficult without the old harness, or ECU. I would like to find another GTS that needs an engine, but I am having no luck finding one. Any suggestions? Thanks.

Yeah that kind of floored me too! It was parked behind the garage owner's shop. I was not happy when he called and told me what happened!

I wouldn't bother messing around with swapping engines at this point. If you've got a rebuilt 3SGE, just keep looking on the internet or craigslist, etc for a decent GTS. Too bad you're not up in my neck of the woods, there's a nice white 88GTS that won;t start and it's only CDN$500. Be patient, I'm sure you'll find something.

Thanks Rick89GTS. I think I'll take your advice and keep looking for a GTS. I sure wish that 88 you spoke of was down in my area! C ya!

Might as well work on a 5sge build while you have the engine out.

Dude I dont think that is really worth it, he already had the block rebuilt. I dont think hes really gonna want to spend the money to get another block. At least thats how I understood him.
