Thumbs up 93 Celica 2.2 engine swap

I have a 93 celica 2.2 and want to swap it out with a 92 Camry 2.2. Can that be done and any major changes would I have to do? Thanks

I did it myself actually.

Change valve cover, intake manifold, distributor, everything else will pop in perfectly.

STRONGLY recommend you do a quick overhaul before plopping it in.

Gaskets, seals, check springs rockers valves. I should've and im regretting it.

Thanks for the replies. I have both engines out and have had to swap exhaust manifolds, motor mounts, throttle bodies ( because of direction of throttle cable), oil pans, oil dipstick, passenger side CV mount (different style), alternator ( wiring harness different, a/c unit was also different. I did note that when I was installing a new timing belt that the Camry engine had a different harmonic balance ( Celica was heavier and more solid) and also the timing notch was located about 5 deg. clock wise of the Celica's. I will use the original Camry pulley and timing marks. Intake and valve cover looked the same, is there an internal difference? I plan on using the original Celica ECM and wiring harness. Camry engine run smooth and quiet ( don't suspect any valve issues, compression was good, transmission was bad in the car. Car only had 86k, so I am not going to do any internal work. This is for my sister-in-law and it's a second car so she didn't want to spend a whole lot of money. Labors free.

Forgot to add: I checked the timing marks again ( intalled both and checked) on the pullies and it was an optical illussion, Timing marks are the same. Why change the distributor? Internal difference? Both look the same. Thanks

Wow, your changing a lot more than i did.

YOu gotta change the distributor because, if memory serves me, the ignition coil for the celica is on the firewall and the ignition coil for the camry is in the distributor itself. Double check, its been awhile.

As for the oil pan, balancer and altenator. They may be a little different but they will all go in and work fine.

As ive said before, only thing i changed was intake manifold, valve cover, motor mounts, and distributor.

A little off topic, but you wouldnt happen to have a extra battery Tie down would ya?

Thanks, I checked both distributors have the coil inside. You may have had different year engines then I have. Sorry, I do not have an extra battery tie down. I junked the Camry after I pulled what I wanted and through the battery tie down in the trunk. I would suggest that you visit your local "pull your own parts" junk yard and get one for a couple dollars. I changed the intake because it was easier than changing or ringing bolts off for the catalitc converter on the Celica. Do you remember why you changed the intake and valve cover? I do not see any reason at this point to that.
