Glad to see a fellow AT180 chasis owner wanting to attemp a swap. Honestly when in comes to swappin in motors to our chasis as far as easy swaps... the 3S is kinda outta the question. However, the 4A family is not. I am in the middle of attempting the swa from a 4A-fe to a 4A-GE 20V Silver top. I chose it because I wanted to stay N/A. However you always could go with the regular 4A-GE. Make sure however if you do to go with the 7 rib block, I believe it has stronger internals or somethin like that. Ask around about it, its other name is the "blue hat/blue top." You also could swap in a 4A-GZE. That is the supercharged 4A. From my understanding it is an easy swap to turbo it if you wish.

You can find parts pretty easily for all the motors except the swap I'm doing. The thing with the motor I choose is that it is JDM only. Well... almost, there are a couple in Africa. Go figure. You get the same amount of horses as the 4A-GZE but you stay N/A. But you do risk longer time between repairs since its JDM and parts are scarce in the US. However, as far as the other motors, parts are like I said abundant. And yes. I would reconmend a full swap of motor, ecu, harness, ect. Primarily because if you go with the 4A-G family they are all high reving engines. I don't think they would work with the 4A-FE's ecu. I believe the tranny's should bolt up. However, try and get a motor that comes with a tranny.
