Gen6 3SGTE head on 5SFE block??

i had someone tell me that this is possible to do and is not as expensive as doing the full 3SGTE motor swap and does not require nearly as much work. can anyone shed some light on this for me? what all would be needed for this swap, as in timing belt, ecu, tranny, head studs, gaskets, etc. keep in mind that this is an automatic and i don't want to put the money into making it manual. what is the power output on this kind of build also? Thanks

You were told wrong. This project is actually more involved than a 3sgte swap. To quote Manny from 6gc:

Quote:
the best way to look at a 5sgte is to think of it as a 3s swap, with a 5s bottom end.
youll need to run the 3s ECU, and to actually benifit from the extra displacment, you'll need to run some form of EMS.

so how much extra work is actually involved? if i could find some performance parts for the 7AFE motor's bottom end, id do it. does anyone have some links to get the rods/pistons for these?

I see your asking this same question on 6gc, and you will get more answers on there.

Theres no real reason to be swapping out pistons on a 7afe. They are turboed sometimes, and thats the only real way to add power.

If your looking for over 200hp, the only option you really have is to swap motors. The 7afe is not a performance motor, and never will be.
