Celica Brake Problem

Hello,

I just changed the master cylinder and bled the lines. Now, I barely press the pedal and the car brakes. The worst part is the front driver side brakes locked up and were smoking. Has anyone encountered this problem before?

Thanks.

When you changed the master cylinder you probably needed to adjust the rod connecting it to the pedal (or you accidentally adjusted it while swapping the MC).

Yep, there is a specification for adjusting the brake pedal pushrod when you remove the master cylinder. Should be in your manual somewhere.

hey, was wondering if you ever solved this problem? Did you adjust the pushrod or something else? I have been having this problem as of late and we've done quite a bit and no results. We changed MC, then the pads, rotors and calipers and still don't have much brake. Just wondering if you had any success.

Don't really have an answer for you, but my '94 Celica is doing the same thing. Has been for quite a while. What I have to do is bleed the brakes all the time. It is weird, even if I let it sit and idle, the brakes lock up. My guess is the master cylinder is not releasing. I just ordered one and am going to be putting it in in a few days. I will get back to you and let you know if that does the trick.

>.> sounds like a bad brake booster, that is only if you adjusted the rod connecting it to the pedal
