Squeeeeeaaaakkkk!!!!!!! Power steering prolem.

I'm frustrated. I've replaced the power steering pump with a new one. And it still squeaks when starting up the car in the cold. What causes that? Do I need to tighten the belt more untill it doesn't squeak no more.

I used prestone power steering fluid. Is that good to use?

Thanks guys!

Sounds like the belt is loose if it only squeals when it's cold. check all the belts, the alternator is usually the one that squeals the most.

Check the belt. Prestone is a god brand, the reservoir cap typically has the type of fluid to use.

Did you "bleed" the system after replacing the PS pump?
On my 89GTS, you bleed it by going lock-to-lock a few times, not sure if it's the same for yours.

I didn't bleed the system... I probably should.

How do I do that?
