88 st 3sfe auto idles smooth in reverse but dies when put in drive, I just installed a new fuel filter, air filter and spark plugs. I have adjusted the idle speed, at red lights I have to put it in neutral. any ideas?

Rough tranny....... Change automatic fluid to solve problem?

The transmission shifts smooth, the engine does vibrate and shake in drive. If you give it a little gas in neutral then put it in drive it will run, it seems to hesitate at low rpm. If I am parking the car and it is in neutral it will be running good, when I put it in park and the trans catches it will start to miss and sputter. What could cause this?
