project celica

well i wasnt looking for a toyota at the time but a guy at work needed money and offered it for sale so i picked it up for 1000..... i figure i could spend some money on it and make it into a nice car...... let me know what yall think and if its worth doing what i am attempting!!

new parts... i know this cause we put them on at my work while he owned it just this past year

clutch
timing belt
brakes front and back
water pump and front seals!

here is the progress as of now....

well when i picked it up it needed a new top. i have already bought the new top but when i was removing the old one i found more damage then i thought.. the right frame of the convertible is complelely broke... i thought i could weld it but that wasnt an option so i ordered a whole frame for pretty cheep... 250 bucks with the motors and all....

also the mirrors and the door handles were faded so i am getting those painted
the bumper's paint was cracking so it is getting painted also

the interior trim was painted red and looked really bad so i sanded down the trim pieces and primered and then painted back to factory color black... looks alot better

i have to fabricate the adaptors for new speakers for the door.... they are an odd shape.....

but more to come next week when is the convertible frame comes in!!

Killer deal man.... $1000 for a generation 6 convertible celica. Damn... Wouldn't find those kinds of deals in denver. The project you are undertaking looks equitable. Good luck with the top. I see some welding that needs to be done.

I bought a Generation 5 convertible for $1200 and everything was wrong with it. I drove it for a while while my white celica died. Then I sold the convertible for $1600. So that wasn't a bad deal at all.

ok the new top frame came into day at my work so when i got it home i went full speed on getting it mounted up and checking for the propor operation of the motors and alignment..... well i already bought a new top and come to find out this one had a good top already... just a few tears that could have been fixed..... but oh well.... atleast i will have a new top and such.... just got to work the kinks out of the motors.... not sure whats goin on with them... they dont seem to have enough power to close the top..... where is tim the tool man taylor when you need him... with more power!

any question and i'll try to answer them considering this is new to me and my first attempt at a convertible restoration.
