IACV Problems

I was wanting to know what the RPMs for cold start up is and what controls it. If the IACV controls it, does it also control the idle with it using the idle up valve?

Thing is the car doesnt have a good idle after warmed up. It idles at 1200 then at around 200 through 500. Sometimes it will die at a stop or pulling out. If i unplug the IACV during cold start up it idles down to about the culprit idle as above. Is this a electrical problem or a IACV problem? If it needs cleaning like i have read about then why does it idle at 1200 during cold startup? Thanks.

94 1.8 litre celica.

do you have a dist.cap on that year. My car would stall until warm up and it was an electronic plug inside the distributer cap. I have an 89 2.0l. maybe this will help? sometimes plug wires will cause int. problems as well.

The IAC controls idle. There is normally a circuit to idle up a cold engine then drop the RPM to normal usually around 800. The IAC valve may need cleaning.
