Canada 5SFE questions

Ok i just bought a 1990 Celica GT-S mint shape but the engine needs a bit of TLC, anyways i was just wondering what kind of modifications you can do to a 5sfe to make it a bit faster iv been looking around but it seems all i can find is parts for the 3SGTE engine. and another question if you go to swap for a 3sgte do u use the transmission the engine comes with or do u use the 5sfe trans on the 3sgte? and one more thing i was replaceing the exhaust manifold gasket and whoever did it before broke a stud and used a bolt but it must have been striped because it came out too easy and wouldent get tight when i wanted to put the new one in, a buddy of mine said to try a healy coil? or re taping it and useing a bigger more course bolt. ok can anyone tell me which would be the better option? any help would just like make my day lol

thanks
Dan

I'm a heli-coil master. It's very simple to use. It uses a tap that's oversized and then an insert goes in and bam.... New thread!

You can buy kits at the local car parts store.

Good luck buddy.

will a heli-coil be strong enough to hold an exhaust manifold in place tho?

I have a 1992 GT with the 5SFE engine. I have a few plans for it. A few mods I will be adding to it are: Racing Header, Hi-Flow Cat., Performance exhaust, Venom Fuel Injectors, Venom Hi-Flo Fuel pump, Voltage stabilizer, light weight crank pulley, various cold air and short ram intakes, Venom 400 Control Module, SARD Speed Limiter Cut Controller, and a few other things. Personally I would just do a 3GSTE swap. You can get a lot more power out of it. With the All-Trac engine, most of them do come with the tranny, because its an AWD transmission, I dont think you could fit the Turbo engine to the FWD tranny.
