starting problem

I have a 1984 celica that is hard to crank after the engine has been shut off for 20 minutes or more,it does this hot or cold.I changed the fuel injectors and pressure regulator but it still does it.Does anyone out there know what might be wrong?

Well...it could be your starter, but it might the timing belt, b/c if the timing's off, then that would give you that type of problem. On my dad's '91 Camry that I we just bought, it had a very similar problem when starting & when I used to accelerate , it would hesitate a few times before going. Later, I found out that the eingine timing was off a little, so we changed the timing belt & adjusted the timing & it runs great. See if that solves the problem.

Have you had the battery tested?
A failed battery will hold a full charge for a few minutes but will then fade away.

You can also test this by waiting 20 minutes and then starting with jumper cables.
If it starts easy then the problem is the battery.
Might also be the charging system but unlikely if it starts easy just after being turned off.

Well...we discovered that the problem was the timing. It was off by a little, now it starts perfect & runs a lot smoother & the stuttering problem's gone, now all that's left is the alignment & the CV boot...& it's perfect...minor stuff...
