Question 20r

Ok heres my question right now I am running a 3T motor in a Mini stock race car. I have a 20R motor but I dont know much about the motor. Is it considered a High perfomance motor? Which of the two would be better as a race engine compared to the ford pinto engines made in the 70's

No, it's not considered a hi-po engine. The 3T is probably your best bet for a performance build. The parts availability is great, and the engine is very solidly built.

Can you give us more details on the car and engines.
Both have been made in to race engines but it depends a lot on the application.
Which model Celica will it go in?
Which racing rules will you be using?
Some rules restrict the type of engine and the modifications allowed.

Where on Earth is Duarte?
Which country you are in will determine how easy it is to find suitable cross members for each engine.

The 1800cc 3T is good for high revs.
The 3T-GTE is the twincam turbo form found only in Japan but it may not be allowed under your rules.

The 2200cc 20R has more low end torque.
The 2400cc is practically identical to the 20R (except for larger capacity) and is easier to find.

either one is prolly better then the pinto eng

but in all seriousness, the 3T should be your choice. lots of mods to choose from and many different "frankin motors" to build out of it.
a really good site for these engines is http://www.toyota3tc.com/forum/index.php

the 20/2/2re engines were designed as a truck motor. load of low end grunt but kinda breathless come redline (4.5k)

i would base your choice on where on the tach you do most of your racing, is it low end or high end. maybe see if you can find somebody with a pickup or a celica and go for a test drive with a 2Xr
