5 GT Alarm Fix

Just wanted to let everyone know what happened with my GT today. I went out to my car and my key fob, (remote) would not unlock car or turn off alarm. I installed a new battery and still nothing. Of course unlocking the door set off the alarm so I had to take neg battery cable off. A friend said to put the key in the ignition and turn to on position, get out of car, shut door, and re attach neg cable and I would hear the chirp my car makes when alarming. If it doesn't work the first time......re do again. Well, it worked! Drove car to SoundMan (an alarm and stereo installer) and he took old 2 button code alarm remote apart, sprayed with contact cleaner and it worked like new! He also said that he can sell me a "universal remote" for $30 and code it to my car and it will work as a spare along with my original remote. Hope this helps someone.
