Well for one thing the 5s-fe is not a single cam, it is in fact a dual overhead cam setup. Second it is an economy engine, and is tricky to get power out of. Best bet for simple power is to find a 3s-gte turbo engine in a wrecked mr2 turbo or celica alltrac and put together the parts necessary to swap it in.
It is not a simple swap and you will have some problems to work out, the wiring is one of the trickiest parts. Fortunately Dr. Tweak can make you a plug and play harness quickly but it will cost you. His work is way better than doing it yourself if you aren't pretty darn good with wiring.
You will have to work out a transmission and clutch setup. If you can find an e series transmission from a camry setup that will work just fine, or you can use the stock Celica 5 speed but the gears are a bit short for a turbocharged engine in my opinion. Both the alltracn and mr2 turbo engines come with variations of the e-153 but both will need to be modified for a fwd setup, the mr2 trans has to be opened and the cables need to be switched out. The alltrac needs the transfer case removed and the hole blocked.
You can always try to squeeze out more power from the 5s, but the 2.2 doesn't take well to mods so you can expect to put a lot into building a naturally aspirated setup only to be disappointed when a v8 mustang smokes you for half the cost...
Buy my Grand Prix

everybody wins that way!
