2002 GT burning oil

Hi everyone.. i am new to this forum... i have a question about my girlfriends 2002 celica GT. She bought the Car used at a chevy dealership with 67,000 miles on it.. The first week she had it she called me up and told me the car was making a rattling and i told her to drive it to the dealership and i would meet her ther.. i see one of the mechanics outside adding oil.. about 20 minutes later they give the car back to here and said they played around with one of the exhaust shields. now one week later she called me again and told me it is doing the same thing.. i take a look at it and i can hear it coming from inside the valve cover so i shut the car off and check the oil and there is not a drop in there.. the car was 3 quarts low.. it does not leak at all. there is still a Little left on the used car warranty so it is back at the dealership.. can it be anything else causing this or does it have bad pistion rings?? 67,000 is not alot of miles on a car like that..

Canada could be valves too

My brother eventually bought a 2001 Celica GT, but a couple of the ones we checked out had this problem. I thought it could be leaking from the valves. There is a way to diagnose but I forgot right now, either way the car was abused and I would see if you could get the dealer to take it back. Do you have lemon laws in your state?

yes we do have lemon laws... Its still at the dealership... i am waiting to see what they do to fix it.. i hope they dont just throw some thick oil in it to try and get it to run intill the warranty runs out. because i know its going to need some motor work.
