Swaps for 02 Celica GT...

Sup everyone, quick question for all of you. My friend Nicole has a 2002 Celica GT and was wondering on what motors she could fit into her car. I'm a Honda person myself, so I know lil' of the motor codes or what would hypothetically fit. I'm assuming either a GT-S motor, or perhaps a turbo MR-2 motor. If any of you had engine codes, prices, or websites that we could look through, that would be awesome. Either email me at Surfjunkie44@yahoo.com, or use my Yahoo! Messanger account to IM me at Surfjunkie44. Thanks for all your help.

she can swap it out for the VVTL-i 1.8 Liter 2ZZ-GE with 180hp...

or just get the 1ZZ-FE supercharger from TRD....

The 1zz supercharger would probably be easiest. I've heard the 2zz swap isn't worth it for all the work that goes in...

There's a number of turbo kits out that will put you well past a 2ZZ in terms of HP and TQ for less money. For the most part, Toyotas aren't like Hondas in the respect of lego-like swapability, unfortunately.

The 2ZZ (GTS motor) isn't worth the trouble, go turbo. The 3SGTE (MR2/Alltrac/Caldina motor) was never designed to fit the chassis, but it has been done, I think he's pushing 600HP or somthing.

I'm laughing my @ss off right now, I like that, "Lego-like swapability"... It's a true statement though, Honda's are like that.

As for the turbo, I don't think that's something she's ready to undertake. More or less the involvement in owning a turbo car. The reliability is not as much there as compared to the simplicity of a roots-based SC. The SC is relatively easy to setup (I could let her practically bolt the thing up herself) and it would be enough power to make her happy for the time being. Her GT is still bone stock as well, so suspension, rims, I/H/E, etc, are still "toys" that she can buy to add a bit more performance to the car. I dunno if she'll be the hard-core car junkie that most of us are, but I'll try. I appreciate everyone's help in this, I'm finding the Toyota forums more polite and much more useful than 90 percent of the Honda forums... I guess we (Honda's) just have too many ricers, kindof ashame all of them give the rest of us a bad name.

Now I'm laughing my ass off . But its true, they make a good marque look bad.

The only problem with the S/C is that it hasn't been developed for the 1ZZ in the Celica yet, meaning that it will bolt and wire up just fine, but the hood won't close over it. TRD is supposedly working on it but thats been the rumor for a while now.
