Stabilizer bar links are a good guess, and the upper strut mounts can also make lots of noise when they start deteriorating. The rubber/polyurethane just disintegrates and the strut starts boppin' around...same hollow clonking sound as worn links.

Swaybar bushings. Replaced dozens of them on Camrys, Celicas, etc. The links hardly ever go bad. The bushings get old and harden up like steel and make a knocking noise. I'm a tech at a Toyota dealer so I know whereof I speak.

I have the same problem. And I just changed out the rear struts, stabilizer links and sway bar bushings........

It's not near as bad, but there is still a clunk there when driving on bumpy roads.

If you figure it out, there's a few Gen 5 Celica guys that would like to hear about it. This is a very common issue with the car.

When you replaced the rear struts, did you replace the strut mounts?

No I didn't change the strut mounts. Just the strut assembly. Good point. I reused the spring rubbers and weather boot as everything was clean and in good shape. No rust or even dirt. I guess I should have.
