USA 1972 celica engine switch 18R to 22R

I have a 1972 celica that my dad bought brand new. The car has been sitting outside and hasn't been a daily driver since 2003. The current engine is an 18R, and has blow-by. We would like to get a new engine, a 22R, but I don't know if this will bolt up to the transmission housing, if the motor mounts are the same, and other problems of that nature. I want to know if it would be easy enough to do, or if I'm just better off rebuilding the current 18R. Any suggestions or comments are much obliged.

yes a 2xr will bolt right up to your tranny

but the eng mounts are more of a problem then you think. if you and your dad can fab up new mounts and find a correct oil pan those will be your only hiccups.

there is a thread that is from a month or two ago that covers this topic in detail
