Celica makes watery noise in 1st/2nd

Hello,

I recently purchased a 7th gen celica 5spd. It's the first manual 7th gen I have owned my last one was an automatic. In first and sometimes 2nd when I first take off in a gear it sounds like water is running up in the engine of the car? Kind of like when you have the air conditioning or heat on and it makes a swishing noise every now and then. Does this happen in other people's celicas or is there something wrong with mine?

air pocket in the cooling system....the coolant was flushed or drained and filled and the air was not allowed to eacape from the system, causing the noise of sloshing water to be heard...its a common mistake and is easily fixable
take it to your local toyota dealer and have it flushed out again and the problem will go away...dont take it to jiffy lube or something tho, because a place like that probably caused the problem in the first place....do it right or dont do it at all

there is a special procedure for burping the cooling system in this style celica.

If I remember correctly you need to remove the coolant resivoir and elevate it, b/c it is not the highest level in the cooling system.
We use to hang it from the hood latch with technician's wire when burping.

Hope this helps,
Justin
