gen 7 Celica 05 needs some suggestion

Hi there guys, I'm new here hehe

I own a Celica 05 GT-S (2ZZ-GE) and I want to improve its performance. Let's just put turbo or swap engine aside, coz I will never afford that

Let's say I want to do minor performance boost, such as exhaust, header, porting polish, and piggyback maybe. Which one should I do first? What step did I miss? Maybe there's something I should do between exhaust mods and porting polish, tell me because I'm new in performance mods (before, I did some eksterior mods, not performance LOL).

I want to boost low RPM acceleration, since I think the low RPM sucks.. The engine only good on 5000+ RPM Say, what should I do? Which header should I use, 4-2-1 or 4-1?

What is the size of the exhaust for Celica? And also, maybe a brand suggestion on exhaust or header will be much useful

One more thing, my Celica's speedometer's limited to 180 (original from Japan, I'm Asian btw ). Do you know how can I increase the limiter? Coz it sucks you know, I once raced my friend, at first I won but when I reached 180 I can't accelerate more, and my friend's car can reach 200+ and I lost

I have bad English so pleaaase forgive me if some grammar are wrong LOL.
Thankie

dont quote me on this cuz im not sure but i had always thought the piggyback chips were up there in price with turbos....because turbos are like a grand, and i thought the chips (at least the legit ones) were up in that price range too. either way, i'd say the chip could come first, but if i were in your position i'd go the route i went with my car.....intake first! you have to make sure you do things in the right order cuz you dont wanna put more flow on your exhaust before you even allow your car to bring in more air...so headers, port/polish, and exhaust would be out for the first thing id say....if you want a real cheap way to add some power, go for an intake, im not sure if they make the off-brand intakes for the celica, because theres ALOT of shit you gotta do to make the intake fit, thats why id go with one of the intake kits like from AEM.....they give you everything you need and instructions. my intake was 265....cold air....the retail for those is a lil more, but i got a friend who was able to hook me up. then....not sure its illegal where you live (it is here in cali but i did it anyways) just find some exhaust shop that would be willing to do this...again it will be a bit harder to find someone to do it if it is illegal as well as more expensive....but have them chop off your cat and resonator and throw a straight pipe all the way back to the stock muffler....that only cost me 50 bucks to get that done....it will throw on your check engine light though so you'll have to buy this thing called an 02 sensor extender....its a spacer for the O2 sensor so it bypasses the check engine light.....

anyways thats what i'd reccomend for now, not saying im like a pro tuner or nothin but its workin for me.

oh and by the way id just stick with the gts headers for now, the gts comes stock with performance headers......and i know the exhaust size is 2 3/4 from the headers to the cat, then 2 1/2 the rest of the way back after that on the GT, i dunno if the gts is different.

Hi there Elliot. Thanks for answering

Hmm some piggyback cost a grand indeed, such as haltech or motec. But there's a cheap n reliable brand named Dastek only cost around $300-$400. Considering the price, I'll install the piggyback since it is not so expensive plus it raises fuel efficiency. But when should I install it? Intake, porting polish, exhaust, then piggyback?

Nah, I live in Indonesia and here cutting off cat is not illegal. Law here doesn't really give a damn on engine modification LOL. No restriction at all LOL. Hmm if i cut off cat and resonator and give a straight pipe directly to stock muffler, isn't the sound of the exhaust will be really noisy? Are there some kind of silencer for exhaust? And I have to buy O2 sensor extender, OK I'll remember it

Cold air intake eh.. Hmm I think my friend got one for Celica, I'll ask him later. Yea I read somewhere that GT-S is equipped with performance header 4-1 so I think I'll let it be.

So the steps are intake - porting polish - exhaust - piggyback?

Btw just curious, how much it cost for turbo (buy the turbo itself, piping, etc). And how much it cost to swap to 3SGTE engine? I found such engine only less than $2000.
Does 1JZGTE (Supra) fit in Celica? Coz I found cheap one, only $1000 for 1JZGTE complete set hehe. If the mechanic doesn't cost too much I can consider engine swapping LOL.

actually when i first got my celica i came here with the same questions and was told its way too expensive to swap the supra motor because what tranny would you use? supra is rwd....and no point really swapping the 3sgte unless u plan on going awd which is like 15,000. so id say stick with intake first then exhaust, then piggyback and port/polish last

and actually straightpiping to the stock muffler really doesnt make it as loud as it would if you just kept the cat and resonator and stuck like a high performance muffler on it.

and scratch the o2 sensor extender. i was told it would work but my check engine light is still on. now im told you can go to a performance shop and have the o2 sensor erased off your cars computer. that sounds like the best idea anyways.

anyways if you have any questions feel free to ask but i am still learning myself, i just thought id share with you what i have learned so far.
