99 Celica Power Window problem

My husband has a 1999 Toyota Celica GT Conv w/ the driver's side power window stuck down. After taking off the door panel to peep inside it appears the cables that help run the window have become bound in the motor. One side of the cable is a little frayed for some reason. When you press on the button the motor sounds normal but doesn't move. Does anyone know if I can get out the cheap way and open the motor to free up the cables? I'm still trying to find a good deal on a new motor JIC.

Does you setup look like the one in the photo below:

The motor can separate from the regulator with cable. See link below:

These photos are for a Camry but should be similar.

You will need to take out the motor and regulator as a unit then take them apart.

That's pretty much what mine looks like. So it is possible to open the motor up you think? I'll try it out this weekend! Thanks!

Regulator was bad. My brother was nice enough to repair it for us.
