Starting prob, Car Dies.

Hey guys, So i have a 93 Celica gt. Its hard 2 start, but it does start, Sumtimes with one crank, other times with many. When the car is running its hard to get it over 2k rpm Because it makes this Farting sound and lacks speed. When i let the gas go and rev it slowly it wont do that and drive fine. Any idea what it could be? The Plugs are new, im going to replace the spark plugs this week, but sumthing tells me its sumthing else. Thnx for your help in advance.
