JDM 3s-ge engine question

Hey I'm trying to fix up my old celica and ran into some problems. It needed a new crankshaft so I thought it would be cheaper to just get a JDM block. But the problem with the JDM block is the pistons seem like they're high compression and the flywheel size is 12 inch like that of a 5s-fe. It's a 1988 celica gts and the larger flywheel blocks the starter from engaging, the only other way around it is to get the transmission with the relocated starter or I'll end up back where I started needing a new crankshaft. Anyone ran into this problem before? Anyone know where to find a 11 and 1/4 inch flywheel that has the bolt on pattern of the 12 inch 5s-fe crank?
It's a 1988 Celica gts
JDM block first gen 3s-ge
-thanks

ok for starters you have a second gen 3SGE.
is your GTS a manual or auto
if it's manual it's most likely to be a 3SGE-LC

if you've managed to do the crank just rebuild the motor if you can get away with it.

yeah the original engine is the low compression engine, but yeah i think you're right it looks like i have a second gen 3s-ge. the crankshaft on the second gen has a larger bolting pattern for a larger flywheel and the old block is done, so i already got the old flywheel custom fitted into the jdm crankshaft
