Gen5 91 Alltrac FOR SALE $4900

Just thought I'd tell you fellow TN members, especially those who are interested in Alltrac Celica, there's one around my neck of the woods. Pictures are attached and the car looks amazing. Low mileage on the car... some pictures are attached. Don't know the seller, but I for that price, someone in here has to be interested. The link http://duluth.craigslist.org/cto/787146062.html

Wow, looks clean. It's a good thing the transmission is rebuilt as old cars are known to have bad syncos.

The reason many older vehicles have bad synchro's is because people beat on them, especially sports cars. Sometimes people just have no idea how to drive stick. Age and mileage don't make as much of a difference as the driver.
Personally i would stay away. It isn't that clean and being as it has had the trans rebuilt and a new clutch in 97k it has been driven hard.

I don't want to hear it when it comes to the "if you drive a car hard things break" crowd. I drive my vehicles hard and they don't need tranny's rebuilt or new clutches for well over 150k or more. The difference is I don't abuse my vehicles.

You should do some research on the All-Trac transmission. From 90-91 it is a known fact that toyota used a single synco configuration which causes the 2nd and 3rd gear to go bad early. Plus if the wrong transmission oil is used it can also cause the synco and sometimes the hypiod gears to go bad. It's the way the all-trac trans is design. From 92+ some toyota started using double and tripe synco to solve the known grinding issue. Older cars are the same way. If you car is a low horsepower car then yes the synco will last longer but heres a car with 200 hp/tq with a single synco configuration, plus a wired setup with the hypiod gears.
