2nd Generation RA40 Rear window water

Hey,

Over the last couple months I have been restoring my RA40 Celica that I got from a mate. I've gotten up to the rear windscreen wiper, and I'm having trouble figuring out how to access the water tank for the rear windscreen wiper.

I know the tank is next to the aerial motor in the back, but I have no idea how to get the tank out to check its condition. I tried filling it up with water and noticed that it leaks, so I need to get in there to fix it.

Could anyone explain how I am supposed to get it out? It would be very much appreciated.

Cheers, Phill

hi,
The Celica Twincam Turbo was Toyota’s pick when the WRC switched to Group B regulations in 1983. The company provided full collaboration with TTE in the development of this car.

I don't understand what you were trying to get across with that post, could you please reiterate?

I cannot find details on how to remove the tank anywhere, I've spent several hours looking for an answer to no avail.

Also while I'm here: What is the petrol tank capacity of the 2L RA40 Celica?

Cheers,

Phill.

Assuming it is 78 to 81 Celica;
The fuel tank capacity is 61 liters [16 gal].
as far as I remember the washer tank is located in the rear right [pas.side corner] behind the hatch side panel.
To remove:
• Fold the right back of the rear seat forward;
• Remove rear inner plastic panel
• Unscrew catch bracket for the back seat
• Remove side panel to body self tapping screws
• Starting at the rear, pull the side panel out
• Detach the washer tank from its mounting bracket.
Sorry if I missed something, I did that for 81 Supra in 1992
P.S the first reply to your post sounds like a spam

Another question:

How would I go about accessing the petrol gauge in the dashboard? I have become aware that it will stick at certain points on the gauge (around quarter tank) and would like to know if I can get the gauge out to make sure it doesn't stick any more.

Cheers,

Phill.

Sounds more like the fuel gauge sender.
This is on top of the fuel tank.
A small tab goes up and down with the fuel level and this is connected to a sensor which sends the electrical signal to the gauge.
The tab may be getting stuck at the quarter mark.

Here's a Haynes manual that covers your car.
It's for sale in Australia.

Would you be able to take those pictures for me? I tried following the instructions given here but I got a bit lost when I tried it myself, and I'm too poor to buy a manual for it at the moment.
