91 - 93 Celica Convertible Top Boot

I am restoring a 1993 Toyota Celica Convertible I bought this spring. It is in very good shape right now, and I want to make it into a car worthy of being in a parade.

When I bought it, it did not come with its top boot & storage bag.

Does anyone know where I can either by a gently used original or new NOS top boot for this car?

Yes, I checked with the dealer. While Toyota still has a part number for the boot, it is no longer available within the Toyota parts distribution system.

A few years back when I picked up my '92 vert, my local stealership quoted me a ridiculous price for a boot ($1200, or something like that ) Needless to say, I was lucky to find someone parting out his '93 vert who sold me his for less than $100, shipped - and it had been VERY gently used (like never used). Your best bet would be to try and find someone parting out their 5th gen vert, or at least willing to part with the boot. I like the look of it on, but probably only use it about 10% or less of the times the top's down. It looks sharp when out for a weekend excursion or something, but it's a hassle for everyday use (like going to work). Good luck finding one, I'm sure there are a few to be had somewhere.
Browse as many Celica sites as you can find and start asking around - celicatech.com has a large number of 5th gen owners - it's been a good source for used parts for me (got clear corner/bumper lenses - look great on the white vert, got the boot, and got all the weatherstripping for the roof tracks. Good deal !!!)

Like what PhantomS said. Check other celica websites and post up a WTB ad and hope for the best. You could also try checking your local listing for 90-93 verts for sale and try asking if they are willing to sell it sepeartly.

Still looking for a Celica Convertible boot?

I have one from my 91 convertible, which I believe will work for your 93. I bought it straight from the dealer, then only used it twice. It's still in it's own storage bag. Dusty, but in great shape. I'm getting ready to move, and would love to give it a good home. Let me know if you're interested.

I would be interested in it, if it is in great shape and if the storage bag is the original factory one. How much are you looking to get for it, and how much would shipping be to 54952?

Convertible boot - shipping estimate

Hi,

Yes, it's in its original factory bag. It just pulled it out of the bag and confirmed it is still in excellent condition.

If we go USPS, shipping costs are estimated to run anywhere from $17 to $68 depending on how fast you want it. I have a nice sturdy right-sized box (amazingly) that I believe will work that came from a TV stand I just bought. If any additional packing materials are needed other than the box, the cost of those materials as well as any added weight it creates would need to be added in to the shipping cost.

As far as the price for the boot itself, I need to do some research on the web... I haven't looked into it for a couple of years, so don't know what a current fair market price would be, but I wanted to get back to you with what I know so far..

If you're still interested, you can contact me direct at chriswiprud@yahoo.com Thanks,

Chris
