Hello, I am new to the forums. I just purchased a 2006 Toyota Corolla S. I have to say I love the car but Im not getting the MPG that I was expecting.
About 80% of my commute is highway and 20% is city driving. I get about 29-30 MPG on average. I took a roadtrip a couple weeks ago but only managed to average about 31-32 MPG. I know by some standards this may seem good but I know other Corolla owners that are getting in the higher 30s and lets face it gas isnt getting much cheaper.
So I am wondering some things I might check to see if it improves the gas milage. I have swapped the air filter with a million mile K&N. I have tried some of the Lucas gas treatments. But I want to get some ideas on what direction I might look.
To give a little background, the car was purchased as a certified preown from a farely reputable dealer and runs smoothly.
So if anybody has any suggestions or what they are averaging gas milage wise please share.
