Australia st184 5sfe to 1mz-fe conversion

i know this has been done, and i have been directed to this site due to asking questions in other forums.....

i own a st184 and my motor seriously needs some money spent to just keep it running, thus i am cutting all losses and putting a 1mz-fe motor out of the camry into it......

does anyone know of any links/posts/sites/pics/ that could help me out......

i know all that is involved to do this conversion i just want to make sure that i do all the research i can before i throw any more money away.........

any help is much appreciated..........thanks. and hello to all

ok so it's been a while since i posted in here and i am at a point where i am ready to go ahead with a 1mz-fe conversion into my st184 celica,

ripping out the 5sfe will be an awesome feeling as this one is just about to give up the ghost and i've cut my losses and am refusing to do any more to it just to keep it running as it seems to be a bottomless pit...........

firstly this will be done within the next month or two.......
engine is sourced, shop is sourced to do the making of custom parts,
i will try to keep you all informed of progress if ya all are interested............

research so far indicates...................

1- stock 184 gearbox bolts up, only change will be a modified/custom dust/inspection plate....

2- will need front timing cover side engine mount custom made...

3- the 1mz-fe does not have a return fuel rail so i will be using a 3vz-fe fuel rail..

4- i will also be using the 3vz-fe intake/throttle body as it is mechanical instead of the 1mz-fe's electronic throttle body....

5- new centre bearing mount for cv..

6- ecu i will let the shop deal with that.

7- upgraded fuel pump

8- headers and exhaust system

So far i just intend to do a stock for stock conversion effectively doubling current power output........73kw to 143kw, future plans will include either turbo or supercharger, still usure at this stage, but right now thats not important....

if anyone has any suggestions or maybe something that i have overlooked please let me know......

my reasoning for this conversion is that i get more power, stay legal, still fuel efficient, and alot more fun to drive, and it's a somewhat out of the ordinary conversion for a celica,

You'll need a custom clutch/flywheel setup.

change of plans......

change of plans now doing the 3vz-fe v6 instead of the 1mz...

reason for change is that i would have had to pull fuel rail, throttlebody, and other various bits and pieces off the 3vz to get the 1mz to run so to save that hassle just putting a 3vz in.......

as for clutch.... i currently have a exedy h/d in celica at present and have been informed by ppl that have done this conversion that all i need is my celica clutch on the 3vz flywheel and all is good.....

but thanks for your thoughts......
