Celica st185 antenna, how to install?

Has anyone every did an install of the celica antenna?

I am just wondering if its an ez job, and if i require any special tools. I need a replacement b/c my current one is stuck, it can't go up or down without a help from pushing it down or up.

Would buying this work? http://cgi.ebay.ca/90-93-94-TOYOTA-C...d=p3286.c0.m14

since, i need to replace it, I may be interested in alternate ways to set up antenna as well. What kind of mods are there?

That part will work, but that part makes it harder than just the antenna, plus you can probably pick up the antenna locally cheaper.

If you can assist the antenna up or down then all you probably need is an antenna and not the motor. The antenna is just the metal part with a plastic zipper inside of it. The plastic zipper is probably missing teeth and that is why you can assist it up and down.

Unscrew the mounting head and the antenna will pop out with the zipper still attached to the motor. Then pull the antenna out with just a little force to get it out of the motor gear.

With the radio on, get the new antenna with the plastic white zipper sticking out of the bottom and push it into the motor hole until it stops, then turn off the radio and it should suck the zipper down. Reassemble the antenna mount and that should be it.

The hardest part is turning the antenna mount without scratching your paint job.

To replace the motor you will have to take the trunkliner apart and a few other screws as well as the antenna mount.

Either way it's a pretty easy job.
