I'm suppose to hear from my guy that's doing some top work tomorrow. He claims he's got a source that has kits for almost everything.

I also stopped by a Toyota dealership and the parts guy says that it's availavle "in limited quantities" and ships out of Cal.

I'll post what I end up....

Happy Motoring,
Harry

Weatherstips

88's are probably easier then 84-85. Almost impossible to get a trunk seal for an 85 convertible.

Goof up at TOYOTA!!

Well, the local Toyota Dealer called to say my parts are in.... I drive up only to find out that the $187+ parts are the WINDSHIELD TRIM, not the weather stripping for the convert!!!!!!!!

The different counter guy and I look up the correct parts and he informs me that the WEATHER STRIPPING LISTS FOR $1000!!!!!!!!!

THIS IS ONLY THE WINDSHIELD PIECES!!!!!!!!!!!

WTF, TOYOTA??????????????

Jeepers, any AFFORDABLE suggestions?

Harry

What weatherstipping on the windshield? If you are talking about the piece that the top squeezes against along the top rail, should be able to find SOMETHING from any convertible that would work for that piece or even aftermarket. But for 1K? Someone is smoking something. I did get the seals between the door glass and quarters from toyheadauto.com.

Well, been there, only w/ my '92 vert....Toyota parts guy said for the one peice I needed about, oh, 13" long over the driver's side rear window, was $300+ I loled, walked out, and was extremely lucky to find a guy parting out his '91 vert on a Celica specific forum, and he sold me the weatherstripping (from the entire roof) plus like-new clear turnsignal and clear corner lenses for next to nothing..... beings as that yours is even older ups the ante, I suppose. I think your only affordable route is to try and find used stripping (either from a forum classified or a pull-a-part yard). Good luck !!!!!

PS - same deal on the tonneau cover for when the roof is down......someone had stolen it from the previous owner of my car, and Toyota told me they could "probably" get me a new one.......for $1200
....found someone online selling a like-new tonneau from his old car (he sold the car, forgot to include the tonneau, and couldn't locate the buyer afterwards.......to my advantage, as I got a great deal on it (about 6% of what Toyaota wanted, shipped ) Gently used stuff is the way to go, if you're lucky enough to run across what ya need....

Again, best of luck to you.
