Door Lock

I have a 2001 Celica and when I use my remote to lock/unlock the car only the passenger side works. What do you guys suggest is wrong with the drivers side ?

Possible door lock actuator not working, but you have to verify if that is indeed the cause by checking for voltage at the actuator . Other possibilities could be the body ecu or junction block.

Sometimes the lock will work and most of the time it doesnt. So I think its getting juice. Actually I know its getting juice because I took the door panell off and messed around with it and the cable moves back and forth. I think its just not pulling/pushing the cable hard enough to work properly. So what do you say the problem would be?

A weak actuator will do what you are describing, you can try cleaning the connection and the actuator itself see if that helps. However, you do have to take the latch/actuator out and disassemble it.

Could you please provide me instructions on how to take the actuator apart. I already know how to take the door apart.
Thanks

I don't believe there is any instruction for actually taking the actuator apart. What you can do is clean the connection with electrical contact cleaner, and lube the levers and linkages for the latch. The actuator is mounted onto the latch assembly.

Here is a link for information on Celica: http://www.newcelica.org/other/technical/index.htm.
