88 celica GT issues, NEED HELP PLEASE
i joined here awhile back when i was having issues with my heating system. (got that fixed btw thanks for the info). anyway i have an 88 celica GT 3SFE engine.. about a month ago the timing belt idler pulley bearing went bad (big surprise there) and the car died when i was on my way home from work, i just have now gotten around to fixing it becuase im broke (lol) anyhow i replaced the tensioner, belt, and idler pulley, and it still wont start, it still chugs while its turning over like its still out of time. heres all the things that i have checked so far. and also right now i dont have the upper timing cover on and none of the accesories have bolts on them i did however reinstall the crank pulley so that nothing would come flying off
1) checked timing.. bumped it over several times with the starter and got it all the way back to where both timing makrs line up on the crank pulley and the cam gear, the #1 piston is at TDC, and when i pulled the distributor cap off its pointing in the correct pistion for the #1 spark plug so i KNOW the timing is right
2) checked spark.. i have spark on all cylinders
3) heres the one thats funky, its always done this when i start it but i always get a clicking comming from under the dash behind the radio. is that where the fuel pump relay is located? its always done this, but before its always started
now this car has ALWAYS had a hard start when its cold, i've been told it vould be a faulty cold start injector, and thats highly probable, i dont know a great deal about toyotas but im not car stupid as hopefuly you can tell by the information that i have provided in this post, i actually ended up killing the battery trying to get this thing going. its possible that i might have flooded it in the process.. though i didnt smell any exxcess fuel while trying to start it.. ill be digging into the fuel system more in the next few days
if yo uactaully managed to make it through this massive run-on sentence i applaud your patience, any help would be appreciated
