Shift knob not shifting

I can't switch in and out of gears. I think that I am stuck in second of third. I checked the cable and they are al connected. Could they have gone bad, or is ther something else I should take look at. The knob has no play what so ever.

Check the easy stuff first: fluid level, then the slave cylinder.

Fuids are good, I was thinking that it might be the shift cables going bad but I can't find any to buy. They are still connected. This is a manual 5 speed 1.6L Celica St. When the clutch is fully engaged nothing change. It's like the knob moves but it can't find a hole.

sounds like broken shifting cables. disconnect one end of the cable and give it a tug.

your said one end, do you mean the end that is hooked to the tranny. And what am I looking for when I tug on it. Also does anyone know where I can get a new set of these cables.

If the cables are indeed broken, pulling on one end will pull the inner cable right out. if it is fine, you should only be able to move it a few inches.

Toyota should have those cables if no one else does.
