Trunk hatch wont stay open

my trunk wont' stay open everytime I try to open it. Once i open it completly, then it will start to close pretty quick.
Is it something wrong with the hydrolic or air arm??
what can be the probelm that won't allow it to stay open?

Your hatch struts are blown. Get new ones

Make sure the new ones come with the bolts to attach them with, because the old ones don't come off and sometimes they try to sell you the struts without the hardware.

I think they're around $175.00 a piece at the dealer. I replaced my sons for $75.00 each from my NAPA dealer but he gives me a pretty good discount too. You will need to replace BOTH.

Autozone.com has them for $28.99 but they don't come with the hardware.
I bought ones that didn't fit with the hardware, then I returned them and kept the hardware.

Also, make sure they are the correct length and not too short.
