86 celica needs engine

I have an 86 celica gt with a 2s-elc engine . I took down the entire engine and found that the 2 middle cylinders hand rusted and left ridges on the cylinder walls. I honed them out but the ridges are to large. So I decided to put a whole new/used engine in instead . Now To my understanding there may be other options to different engines as a direct replacement. Which ones are these and where is a good place to get one, and are they really direct replacements, or would it be better to just get the original engine. Any input would be great .

The 2S engine is the easiest but any "S" series engine will drop in. You can upgrade to 3SGE, 5SFE, 3SGTE but keep in ind it's more work b/c you need to swap in the ECU, electrical wiring and any other engine anciliaries.
