Exclamation 3sgte tranny question

I have a 92 celica gt-s and it does not have a tranny in it. I was woundering if I could use the awd trany for 2wd or if I need to get a 2wd tranny?

It's always the best idea to use the proper tranny for what you want to do.

If you want to do an entire expensive swap to AWD:
Start with an AWD tranny

If you just want your car to drive:
Get the 1992 GTS tranny

Unhappy

See the thing is I had a 93 celica with the 3sgte engine swap and my ex totaled it... one of my friends gave me his older 92 celica gt-s with no engine or tranny but I have a rebuilt 3sgte engine that I wanted to swap into my old car before she wrecked it now I have no tranny and someone I know has a toyota awd tranny and he was going to give it to me if it would work... are there any conversion kits to awd?

IIRC, it can be done, but probably not worth the headache. The 2WD trannys are a dime a dozen, I'd just go wit that.

There are no conversion kits to AWD because its' not worth the time or money to reinvent something that already exists in an AllTrac.

You can convert the AWD tranny to FWD, there's a good writeup on celicatech.com.

Your standard S-series fwd tranny will work just fine, you'll need to make sure you have a 3sgte flywheel, though. The downside is that the S53 will typically not hold more than 300hp, and the S54 is marginally better.

You're better off sourcing an E153 off of an MR2 Turbo, Camry V6, or Solara V6, and using MR2 inner axles, alltrac outers.
