gen 7 2000 Celica Strange issues - engine revs in park, lurches when stopping, and more

Hi Guys,

Driving around in my girlfriend's 2000 Celica GT (Automatic) today it started acting very strange. Here are the symptoms:

1. Engine idles higher than normal - around 1200 RPM
2. The engine quickly oscillates between 1000 and 3000 RPM when in park or neutral. This does not occur in Drive. It's as if the driver is free revving the engine with the accelerator.
3. Below about 60mph, if you let your foot off the gas pedal the vehicle will slowly accelerate to faster speeds, rather than coasting and losing speed.
4. The car is very jerky when slowing down, especially when you are about to come to a complete stop.
5. Vehicle lurches forward when taking off from a stop as if you quickly pressed the accelerator.

Two years ago the Mass Air Flow sensor was replaced due to lurching at higher speeds, I'm not sure if this could be a similar component.

Anyone know what the problem could be?

Drive over to (autozone, advance auto, etc...) and have them hook up a scanner to check for CEL code's.

Sorry for bringing this thread back to life. Cleaning the IACV fixed everything.
