Question Noise Question 03 Celica GT-S

2003 Celica GT-S Manual. Just bought the car last week. It has about 104k on it and seems to be in great shape from my personal but unprofessional inspection. I probably won't get a chance to take it in to my mechanic till after the holiday, so I just have a quick question.

When it idles or when the engine revs. I hear a faint but noticeable liquid-like popping noise. It seems to give a bit of a pop when I rev just a bit but does not continue. Just at the moment I give it some gas. As it idles I hear the occasional pop every couple seconds.

I had an old beater in high school that had sludge in radiator and I could hear the liquid boil after I turned it off after driving a while.

Similar sound but the engine does not need to be hot to hear it. I am thinking it may just be the combustion in one of the chambers is misfiring but not sure, just a guess.

I can only seem to notice it when I am in the cabin. Can't really hear it when I am outside listening with the hood up.

Am I just hearing the muffled combustion through my dashboard or should I mention this to my mechanic?
