3rd Generation 84 Celica GT convertible Matrix3

I have a 84 Celica GT with the Matrix3 convertible. I was under the impression that in 84 they were done by ASC. If anyone has any info on this let me know. principal1@gatewaycs.org

Not by ASC.
Here is a brochure for the Matrix3.

Matrix3 also did a Corolla.

Here is the official version by Toyota

Thanks for the info. Do you know if there is a way to find out how many were built? I have seen some 83's done by matrix, but I have never seen any other 84's.

Convertibles

I have been researching these convertibles for a long time, so I wrote the following article. If you have anything to add, please let me know.

Excellent article Slim.
I've put some more convertible brochures on my website:

The Celica Tropic brochures would help your article.

WOW, Stepho! You have got the custom convertible brochure market nailed down! Those are amazing images. Thank you so much for sharing that info. I will need to see how to sensibly add the Tropic info and Griffith Britian info, since the article is strongly written with the U.S. conversion market as the focus.

Tropic also built Prelude convertibles. Matrix3 also built a ton of Camaro convertibles and a few Nissan Bushmasters (These were a pickup KingCab turned into a 4Runner-like SUV, before Nissan built the Pathfinder.) Grandeur built all kinds of convertibles and raunchy Cadillac and Lincoln customs suitable only for pimps (lots of padded roofs, opera windows and continental kits).

Let me know via P.M. if you have anything else to share that is non-toyota. This type of stuff is amazingly helpful to me!
