91 toyota celica cel, and other questions

ok i am new to toyota, i have a cel in this car but only have an idea of how to check it, i think i need a paperclip, and a volt meter...but after that i need to know what 2 conectors i need to use, and where to find what code is what.

also i think i have a vacume leak because my idle is flucuating between 1200rpms, and 1800rpms after it warms up. what hoses should i check.

also dose any one have good pics of there engine compartment, there are some wires run wrong in mine, and i need to see where they go, i will get pics of the wires i am talking asbout tommorow.

also anyone know how to clean the egr ports on this car, do the injectors have to come out like on my 97 accord?\\there are also some other issues, but these are the major ones right now.

thanks allot in advance, i will be working on the car tommorow morning, so i will try to take breaks and jump on the forum...

"you take a paper clip and bend it so you can stick it in the E1 and TE1 holes of the diagnostic unit in the engine compartment."

Search this forum for cel codes.

here's a manual

EGR port I believe is near the firewall and has a small filter and everything just pops apart.

thx for the reply i will have to do that tomorrow, also i will have to get pics tomorrow my camera is not at my house. i replaced a bunch of vacuum lines it seemed to help, but it still has an odd idel it jumps once in a while...also there is one vacuum line behind the engine near the firewall that is broken, i have no clue where it goes to, there is also a long metal line that is near the same area, it is unbolted from whrerever it needs to be, pics of that to come.

fix everything, then remove the negative for the battery and it should clear the code, if it comes back then something is still wrong and you will need to decipher the cel flashes with E1 and TE1 jumped.

ok i am making progress, but i can't find where the vacuum hoses go coming off of the air control valve on the power steering pump. one goes from the intake manifold to the air control valve the other one comes off of it goes into a metal tubing splits, and both ends just end right now.

go to page SR-45, and page SR-37
