83 Celica electrical problem

To start off, the Celica is in amazing condition and there is hardly anything wrong with it inside and out. It has only 157K miles on it and no cracks in the dash. Basically, it is in mint condition.

However, I have one problem, the car wont start. I have replaced both the battery and the starter with brand new parts. The starter does get current to the positive terminal but I have no idea why it wont crank. It just makes a single click, and thats all.

Does anyone know how or have any ideas on how to fix this?

Here is a pic.

Should be something simple. Did you check the grounds? Ensure they are tight and free of corrosion. Your car looks in great shape. Get it outta the garage and take a few pics in the sunshine for us

Has the engine ever run, it's not frozen?

You replaced the starter and starter solenoid as a unit?

Have you checked the battery cables for damage or corrosion. This includes the battery ground wire and ground points and ground wire from engine to chassis.

If you have jumper cables connect the ground cable to a hold down bolt for the starter motor. Then touch the other cable to the electrical terminal coming out of the starter motor. If the engine cranks you have a wiring problem.

Or apply 12V DC to the small electrical terminal on the solenoid that comes off the ign key system. If the engine cranks this issue is the ign key or starter relay.
