Might be getting a 88-89 celica GT and have questions

I recently wrecked my car and I am looking for a new one, I have found a 88-89 celica GT for 800$, its a stick shift and I have heard it run. The guy selling it apparently has put an extra fan on the engine for some reason. My question is that is the car worth that much? and also what kind of cars were the 88-89 celicas are they reliable or (because of the fan) do they have overheating problems? just basically give me your review.

Thanks, Doni

Without seeing it, that's a fairly reasonable price.
Some major factors:
1) mileage
2) rust
3) previous collisions
3) immediate repairs needed
Price dependent on the above factors and will go up or down accordingly.

These cars are reliable, but it depends on the care and maintenance. A properly maintained high mileage car can be better than an abused low mileage car.
No overheating problems to speak of, so I'd be wary of the extra fan. As with any 20+ year old car, get a trusted mechanic to check it out thoroughly.

I have 3 Celicas currently (see my sig below) and have found them to be very reliable cars.

Are you sure the extra fan isn't just the AC fan?
(It'll be on the passenger side of the condensor or radiator.)

If not, it could be overheating due to clogged radiator or other issues.
I like my cars unmolested; if there's been too much monkeying around done on it, I'd walk.
