custom intake question

Hi I want to make an intake for my 92 Celica GT but not sure of how big the piping needs to be and what the small little box on the side of the factory intake box is and if it'll throw a CEL if I remove it. Thanks

the thing on attached to the airbox is probly the air flo sensor DO NOT get rid of it i have a 91 with the 5sfe i used a 3in stainless steel elbow i found in a marine consignment shop for 10$ i drilled a hole in it for the air flo sensor polished it with a 4 step grinder/polish kit added a rubber gromet for the sensor bought one of thowse pep boys...ect reducer hoses 2.5in to 3 in and a k&n cone filter im verry impressed the stock intake is very restricting

i would say keep the pipeing get rid of the box(not the sensor) i had the filter on the hose for a while and it was good enoughf (just looked ugly)

sounds good, I'm glad you have some positive results I don't expect amazing performance off an intake, I've had them on every car i've owned and just love the sound, also I feel like the gas pedal is really unresponsive is there anyway i can mess with the throttle cable to get more response my 02 Civic had the same problem and someone said to tighten the cables and it seemed to make a difference any easy way to do this on the Celica??
