Talking 91 celica instrument panel lights out

alright guys ive been up for 4 hours trying to figure out what's wrong with my instrument lights. all of my lights work perfect but the back lights.
So i got a few questions.

what fuse goes to the instrument panel lights?
Which fuse box is it?
what lights go to the panel lights?
If its my dimmer how can I fix it?

Thats all
Thanks guys

Hey all!

Same issues here with my recently acquired 92 Celica ST. All dash warning lights work but no dimmable back lights..spedo, tach etc. #9 15amp and all other fuses are good. I'm leaning towards a bad dimmer, but would like some trouble shooting advice before I buy a new one. Any help is much appreciated, Thanks!

Jared

Certainly sounds like a bad dimmer switch. I'm not sure if Celicas operate in the same way, but on the 7th Gen Corolla if the dimmer rheostat malfunctions then it will cause all of the instrument panel lights to go black (the ones that come on when you turn your headlights on). You can bypass the dimmer switch by joining the two wires together to see if it's the cause of your problem. Otherwise just grab one from the junkyard if possible

Thanks man! I would also assume that they work in the same manor. I'll try that as soon as I can pry the car away from the GF.

Tore into the car last night. Ended up being a couple problems. The dimmer was indeed bad and when I bypassed it I found that only one of the six main bulbs in the instrument cluster was working. Changed them out and I now have dash lights!
