1990 ST engine swap

i have a 1990 ST,. 1.6L 4aFE, A/T.....

engine seized, so i bought a 1993 geo prizm engine. it bolted directly to the trans. THere are a few extra plugs on the harness that are not plugged into anything, and i dont know where they go to.

also, i dont know if this engine for sure is a 1.6L, or the 1.8L that was offered in the LSi prizms. i bought it from a junkyard and the guy didn't know.

the engine runs and the car is drivable at this point, i just want to know what this newer engine has that my old one may have not had, or if its the other way around.

also, if this engine is a 1st gen 4aFE, or a second gen 4aFE

thanks

if it bolted right up i think its a 1.6. the only thing i would think of is gas mileage if that concerns u any(dont know much about geo, but i do know they make great mileage cars). 4afe in yours is a 1st gen. 4th gen st's had 3sfe's in them.

Wut.

Dude... what are you talking about? Where the hell did 3sfe come into play?

It's a 4afe in that prizm. It'll bolt right up. The extra stuff on the harness probably has to do with emissions, as there were even changes in the harness/motor within the Celicas from 90 vs. 93.

What you'll want to do is tear your motor down to bare longblock, and install the stuff from your old motor onto the new motor. Problem solved.
