20r carb

i'm trying to decide what carb i want for my 20r. i can't choose between the weber 38, holley 390 (4 bbl), or a set of side draft carbs. what are the pros and cons of each performance wise. i'm not too concerned about fuel economy, just power!

With money no object, get a 22R-E manifold, increase the size of the 22R injectors and add an aftermarket computer. Not sure if the 22R-E manifold fits the 20R head. Even better if you have a 22R bottom end with a 20R head (20R has smaller comustion chamber whichraises the compression ratio).

Second best is a pair of Webber 45DCOE sidedrafts but the manifold is very hard to find. Maybe Redline has something.
A single 45DCOE is also good and more suitable for the street (and still hard to find a manifold).

I hear good things about the using a single Weber 38 downdraft with an adapter plate

I love Webers, so I'm not very familiar with Holleys.

The 22R's port shape is square vs. the 20R's round intake ports, so it won't work.

Best bang for your buck? Yank the 20R and drop in a carbureted 22R, any year. It makes more power than the 20R, and bolting a set of Webers or even the Holley 4bbl and a bigger cam will really wake it up.
